Carlos Pabon
Studio Owner, Director, Head Instructor
Carlos began his dancing career in ballet and jazz. He performed with several ballet companies and trained with the renowned Phila-Danco before moving into Ballroom and Latin dance. In the years that followed, he became a top Pro-Am teacher and competing professionally, earning many titles in the Rhythm and Latin categories. He began his teaching career with Arthur Murray in 1982 where he received the majority of his ballroom training. He was the 1989 US Professional Rising Star Rhythm Champion and a US Professional Open Rhythm Finalist. He later went on to compete International Latin and was the 1992 US Professional Rising Star Latin Champion and US Professional Open Latin Finalist. With his partners he garnered numerous titles at competitions across the county in both Rhythm and Latin styles. He was also a member of the American Dance Montage Ballroom Theater Company, choreographed by the late Frank Regan, which traveled around the US performing for various venues.
Also in 1992 he opened a Studio in the Baltimore Washington Metropolitan area called That’s Dancing Ballroom & Dancesport Center. Carlos operated a Fred Astaire franchise until 1996 when he decided to independently operate his business. Since then he has run a successful Ballroom & Latin Studio with focuses on both American and International Styles. His students range from social to competition level.
Marielle - Business Manager
Marielle runs the operations at the Studio and handles all inquires regarding outside performance opportunities, shows, studio rental for special events, student relations, and payment coordination.
Marielle is mom to four kids with her husband Carlos. She is the organizer of the NDCA sanctioned Baltimore Dancesport Challenge and is co-organizer of the Northcoast Ballroom Championships.
Jackie - Instructor
Jackie has been dancing ballet, tap, and jazz since 1980. She was a member of a professional jazz company from 1985-1989. After watching Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing, she began ballroom dancing. Jackie has been a certified ballroom dance instructor since 1987. She teaches private and group classes from Beginner to Advanced. She also teachers our MnM Series, that focuses on incorporating body movement and jazz techniques into Ballroom Dancing.
Christina - Instructor
Christina started in tap and ballet as a little girl, later dancing her way through high school as captain of her school's dance company. She worked at That's Dancing for a few years, taking a break to attend college, but is excited to be home again at the Studio. Christina teachers private and group classes from Beginner to Advanced and enjoys performing in showcase with her students and frequently competes Pro/Am with her students.
Nathan - Instructor
Nathan began teaching in August of 2011. His interest in dancing started in his elementary school in musicals and progressed into studying musical theater and dance in college. He has always strived to be a strong communicator and help his students reach their goals and aspirations. Throughout his time as a dancer, Nathan has been a student, a choreographer, a music editor, and both Professional and Pro/Am competitor at competition throughout the US. Nathan is thrilled to bring his style and dedication to That’s Dancing Ballroom!
